When the digital age came about , it created the opportunity for artists to sample the already recorded and released works of previous artists , re-work the grooves, and then combine it with their own creativity to create a new song. This has happened to Billy Cobham, particularly with his first two solo albums, Spectrum and Crosswinds as well as some Cobham-Duke tunes. In some cases, the new sampled tune has been further re-mixed and re-released by a third artist.
I have compiled a small list of those whose sampling of Billy is known and acknowledged, meaning he got paid for his work and got credit in the liner notes by that artist.
